The Great Dog Poop
The Dog Poop#
Thy first try shall be dog poop.
Thy second less so &endash; if thou heed’st thy missteps.
Thy third shall be of better craft,
Yet still smell of dog poop.
But lo! With time and toil unmeasured,
‘Twill rise, at last, to something revered.
If thou hast a theory or design,
‘Twill be as dog poop.
Its flaws stands revealed to the practiced eyes,
Or else emerge when put unto the test.
Yet fret thee not, for improvement shall be thine,
So long thee dost strive,
And not forsake.
Take joy in what thou doest, for thee shalt persist.
Take heart in what thou toil, lest thou despair.
Persevere &endash; though perfection fleeth like a hare,
Thy chase shall bring thee breathless, near to there.
But mark this well: praise not the road’s great length,
But how far thou hast trod with each steadfast step.
For he who mourns missing sunset’s fleeting light,
Shall blind himself unto the ephemeral stars of night.
